My Little Girl is Complex

I have a six year old girl named Emily and as a daddy I have to say she has my heart. When she just says the word daddy to me I quickly melt into a pile of goo. I love her with all of my being, but man is she complex. I am not sure if she does this on purpose or not but she knows how to pull at my heart strings. One day she is all bout me and I cannot give her enough attention then the next day she has nothing to do with me.

Emily is a blond headed blue eyed little girl that memorizes you when you look at her and she has is very independent. She is exactly as I  would want my daughter to be. However, with this individual personality of hers comes at a price as a parent. Some days just out of no where she just freaks out and impossible to reason with. I know less about women now than ever.

One thing I can also say about Emily is that she is so creative. She has a gift of artistic ability that most people can only dream of. On several occasions we have sat down to a 100 piece puzzle and she puts it together quicker than anyone who is doing it with her. She can just look at the pieces and know where they go almost without even looking at the picture and once it starts to come together it isn’t even a challenge for her.

Last night I recorded a podcast on my other site The Ord and we talked about disciplining and raising our children.  Although each of us on the show have different ways to do this there is one thing we all had in common and that is we just take day by day and in many instances situation by situation. Raising kids is not an easy task but I do not consider it a job, more of an opportunity. Being a dad is the greatest purpose I have ever been given and my little girl is proof of that. Her independence is one that I am looking forward to by seeing her grow into a successful independent women.

My goal as a dad is to love her so she does not have to seek that love anywhere else and show her how a man should treat a women by being a good husband to her mother. I thank the Lord everyday for the blessing of having a daughter and look forward to the opportunities that come with it.

Emily I love you with all my heart and your daddy will always be daddy goo!
